We recently announced that Ahlstrom advances electrification with a new fiber-based pasting material for lead-acid batteries.

The article states that "Ahlstrom's portfolio for battery materials includes a wide range of pasting materials, film separator reinforcement, and Absorbent Glass Matt (AGM) media. Ahlstrom is now taking further steps to become a leading, single-source provider of fiber-based battery materials by expanding its offering with a hybrid pasting material."

We also recently reported that Safire and Glatfelter announced strategic partnership to develop safer, higher-performing Lithium-ion batteries.

The article states that "The new separator material will first be integrated in Li-ion batteries being developed by Safire Group for the United States Air Force. We are excited to partner with Glatfelter and leverage their long history of innovation in developing engineered non-woven specialty materials for demanding technological applications. Together, we are enhancing the performance and impact protection from SAFIRE technology, all in support of our mission: safer batteries for a safer world, said John Lee, Co-Founder and CEO of Safire Group."

It was also announced that Flint, a start-up out of Singapore states it has come up with a way to replace the lithium in a battery with paper.

According to an article from The Business Times, it states that "Flint's paper battery is made with hydrogel-reinforced cellulose paper. The paper is coated with zinc and manganese that will not poison the soil when disposed of. Flint also claims that the battery does not explode when damaged and costs less to produce than lithium-ion batteries."
