Print
Helsinki, Finland, 07 December 2006 - UPM celebrates today the inauguration of its new birch plywood production line at Chudovo in Russia.

The third rotary cutting line and the dryer installed at Chudovo plywood mill increase the mill's annual birch plywood production capacity by 20,000 cubic meters. After this investment, totalling some EUR 5 million, the Chudovo mill's production capacity amounts to 100,000 cubic meters of birch plywood annually. The new line strengthens UPM's capabilities to deliver customized products to the transport vehicle and parquet industries in particular. Installation work began in June. The new production line employs about 30 people.

UPM produces in Russia plywood, veneer and sawn products. The group has in total about 1400 employees in Russia, of which the mills in Chudovo and Pestovo employ about 800 people.
