Fire at Pactiv facility in Macon, Georgia
Print

Macon-Bibb fire crews tackled a fire at a manufacturing facility along Airport Drive.

Lead Fire Investigator Captain Kyle Murray said crews responded to the fire at the Pactiv Corporation location on Monday, Dec. 8, at 2:43 p.m. and found the building with smoke coming from the exterior.

Murray said that crews "advanced multiple attack lines" into the building and found the fire within large piles of egg crate-type product, and he said the density of this material made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish.

After hours of fighting the flames, crews were successful in putting out the fire, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental as it began in the manufacturing process of the product, said Murray.
