Klabin General Shutdown

Telemachus Borba, Brazil, South America 07 May 2014 - Between 15 and May 25 Klabin hold its Annual General Shutdown, which consists of discontinuation of paper production to perform maintenance that will ensure the smooth operation of equipment, safety and quality of the production process.

During these 11 days, about 100 contractors and 4,500 temporary employees will be involved in the General Parade. Among the main activities are planned inspections of boilers, digesters, the generation and distribution of power and control of the production process, in addition to implementing projects to increase unit production. The number of temporary workers demands a logistics and infrastructure that include transportation, accommodation, meals and other items that move and stimulate the economy of Telemachus Borba and region. To this are added other benefits such as taxes generated for the city and the extra motion of hotels, bars, restaurants and shops, as well as support in workers staying in town services.

During the days of arrest, changes in odor and noise from the factory, especially on days 15 and 16, early plays, and 23 and 24, resumption of operations of the equipment, may be perceived by the community. Importantly, these changes do not cause damage to human health nor the environment.
