Fire Destroys Part of RCP Stock at IP Kwidzyn

Memphis, Tennessee, USA 22 August 2014 -- The recovered paper warehouse of International Paper's Kwidzyn mill in Poland was hit by a fire. The company says that newsprint production was not affected by the incident.

A fire in the recovered paper storage area of International Paper's (IP) newsprint mill in Kwidzyn, Poland has destroyed part of the site's recovered paper inventories. The local fire fighters reported that the fire broke out on 20 August. No persons were injured.

According to the reports, one third of the site's storage area was hit by the fire. IP said that an "insignificant" amount of recovered paper had been burnt in the blaze without specifying the exact volume. Paper production was not affected by the incident, IP said on 21 August, adding that the newsprint machine was running normally and recovered paper supply for production was ensured.

IP produces newsprint on one machine with a capacity of 115,000 tpy at its Kwidzyn mill. Uncoated fine paper and cartonboard are also produced at the site.
