Fibrek Halts Production for Repairs
Print

Saint-Felicien, Quebec, Canada 31 July 2012 -- Fibrek Inc. has temporarily shut down of its NBSK market pulp mill in Saint-Félicien, Que., as of July 29, to carry out repairs on the electrostatic precipitator. The shutdown is expected to last about one week.

Fibrek was purchased by Resolute Forest Products earlier this year, and the new owner states that the repairs are being undertaken to avoid excessive particulate emissions into the atmosphere and to bring the mill in line with Resolute standards.

“We will spare no effort to ensure that Fibrek's operations achieve the same environmental performance as those of Resolute Forest Products" said Richard Garneau, president and CEO of both Fibrek and Resolute Forest Products Inc.

Fibrek produces virgin and recycled kraft pulp at three mills in Québec, West Virginia, and Michigan.
